WhatsApp recently introduced the "unlock with fingerprint feature" on its WhatsApp for Android App and this has reportedly being causing huge battery drain on a lot of Android smartphones.
According to a couple of Redditors, they have recently started noticing a significantly higher battery drain on thier smartphone and this is mainly caused by WhatsApp. The list of affected smartphones includes but not limited to the Samsung Galaxy S10e, Galaxy S9, Google Pixel 3, Pixel 4, One OnePlus 6 and even Redmi Note 5 Pro.
If you have also noticed this battery drain then you might try out one of the multiple suggestions by different users. Some claimed that they were able to fix the problem by simply backing up their data, uninstalling the app and reinstalling it again. Others claimed that installing the newer version 2.19.325 which can be downloaded HERE fixed the issue, while a couple of other users simply downgraded to the version 2.19.291 which can be downloaded HERE and that solved the problem for them.
If you have noticed sudden battery drain and you are not sure if WhatsApp is responsible for it or not, then you can simply confirm by checking your battery usage under your phone settings.
