Early Units of the Samsung Galaxy Fold shipped out are already experiencing display issues

The smartphone market has gotten to that point where every smartphone released year in year features almost the same rectangular design with just very little difference, Samsung is however trying to change this with its 1st Generation Galaxy Fold device.
Samsung opened the pre-order window for the almost $2000 Galaxy Fold this week and all 200,000 units from the first batch has been sold out already. Even though the shipping is expected to commence on April 26th, Samsung already sent review units to a couple of YouTubers and bloggers.

The problem however is that almost every YouTuber and blogger who got a copy of the loaner device have had issue with the display in less than 48 hours. Early report has it that this is due to peeling off the light film on the screen which many of them thought was just an ordinary screen protector.

Samsung has however released an official statement and the company promises to investigate the cause of the widespread screen issue. The company also further reinterate that the protective film on the display should not be peeled off as it's part of the screen structure.

"A limited number of early Galaxy Fold samples were provided to media for review. We have received a few reports regarding the main display on the samples provided. We will thoroughly inspect these units in person to determine the cause of the matter.Separately, a few reviewers reported having removed the top layer of the display causing damage to the screen. The main display on the Galaxy Fold features a top protective layer, which is part of the display structure designed to protect the screen from unintended scratches. Removing the protective layer or adding adhesives to the main display may cause damage. We will ensure this information is clearly delivered to our customers."

Even with all the recent screen issues, Samsung says that the initially announced launch date still stands, so shipment will commence on April 26th as promised.
