How to install and download MIUI 11 update on Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 (Lavender)

MIUI is Xiaomi's own heavily modified version of Android which is used in Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco smartphones. It comes with a lot more features and customization options compared to the stock version of Android.

In November, Xiaomi unveiled the latest version of MIUI which is the MIUI 11 in China, and the update began almost immediately, but it was only limited to users in China. The update has however started rolling out Globally with more users to receive the update later this month. The Global, Indian, Europe and Russian stable version of the MIUI 11 is now available to some devices and one of them is the Redmi Note 7 (Codename: Lavender).

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 is the first smartphone launched under the Redmi brand. The phone was launched early this year with MIUI 10 based on Android 9.0 Pie. If you are using the Redmi Note 7 or Redmi Note 7S, you can now update to the latest MIUI 11 based on Android 9.0 Pie.

How to Manually check for MIUI 11 OTA update on Redmi Note 7 Lavender

Before you manually install the update, first check if the OTA update is available for your phone by following the steps below.

Go to settings.

• Tap on About phone >> System update.
• Then click on Check for updates.
• If you get No update available, then try the second or third method below.

How to Install the MIUI 11 OTA Update on Redmi Note 7 / 7S Lavender

• Download the MIUI 11 OTA zip file from the link above and copy it to your phone’s internal storage.
• Go to your phone's Settings >> About Phone >> System Update.
• Click on the three vertical dots on the top right corner to open the menu and select “Choose Update Package”.
• If you can’t find the “Choose Update Package” option in the menu, then tap the MIUI logo continuously for 10 times and repeat the steps above again.
• Your file manager will then open, locate the ROM zip file you downloaded and select it.
• Hit the reboot button to apply this MIUI 11 update on your Xiaomi Phone.
• Now your phone will reboot and the update process will begin automatically.

How to flash MIUI 11 Redmi Note 7 Update with Stock Recovery

• Download the Recovery ROM from the link above and rename it to update.zip
• Copy the downloaded file to the root of your phone internal storage.
• Reboot to recovery mode by pressing both the Power and Volume Up buttons together.
• Navigate with your Volume up and down button, then select install update.zip using the power button.
• The update process will begin immediately and your phone should reboot once it is completed.
• In case it doesn't reboot, just manually select reboot from the options.

How to flash MIUI 11 on Redmi Note 7 with Twrp

• Make sure you have Twrp installed or check the procedure HERE.
• Download the Recovery version of the MIUI 11 firmware for Redmi Note 7 from the LINK above.
• Copy the file to your phone internal storage.
• Reboot to recovery mode by pressing both the Power and Volume Up buttons together.
• It is advisable you wipe system, data and cache but it is not compulsory (You will loose your files if you do so).
• Go back and click on install.
• Select the recovery ROM file you downloaded earlier and swipe right to begin the installation process.
• Once the installation is completed, your phone will reboot automatically.
• In case it doesn't reboot, just manually select reboot from the options.
