Airtel has discontinued it's N5 for 20 seconds Bank USSD service charge

Last week, MTN announced that it will start charging it's customers for USSD banking transactions. According to the message, N4 will be charged for every 20 secs and this was suppose to commence this month.
The news was however met with a lot of outcry from users and the federal government through the NCC ordered MTN to suspend the proposed USSD charges. 

Airtel has however being charging for USSD banking service for quite some time now. Unlike the proposed N4 by MTN, Airtel charges N4.98 which is approximately N5 for every 20 seconds.

The goods news is that Airtel has also stopped charging for this service after many users pointed this out to the NCC through it's official Twitter handle. So if you are an Airtel user and your Airtel number is registered with your bank, you can now make use of the USSD banking service on your Airtel line for free.
