The Upcoming OnePlus 7 won't support QI Wireless Charging

OnePlus has always been known for its premium smartphones with premium features at affordable rates. The company however do have to make a few compromises in terms of features in other to achieve this price point.
Wireless charging has been around for quite sometime now and OnePlus is still one of the few smartphone brands that is yet to implement this feature on its phones. While many OnePlus fans are hoping the brand will finally adapt QI charging on its next flagship device, the company's CEO has just confirmed that it won't happen anytime soon.

According to the CEO of OnePlus Pete Lau, in a recent interview through an interpreter at the WMC 2019, he said "OnePlus charging is one of the best," he also added that "Wireless charging is far inferior."

He noted that charging devices with a wireless pad is relatively slow compared to physical quick charge, according to OnePlus, you can get your battery to 50 percent battery charge in 20 minutes and fully charged in less than an hour.

Although OnePlus is currently working on a fast wireless charging for its future smartphones, Lau pointed out that the company still hasn't figured out a way to achieve it without too much heat.

Even though manufacturers like Apple, Samsung, Huawei, LG, Razer and even Xiaomi have already introduced QI wireless charging to some of their flagship smartphones, OnePlus users might still have to wait a little longer.

Announcement of next-generation OnePlus flagship devices usually come up around May or June of the year, so we should expect the OnePlus 7 announcement in a few months time.
