HMD to Launch affordable Nokia 1 Smartphone by March of 2018 as part of Google's Android Go Program

In May of this year 2017, Google launched the android Go program which is targeted mainly at developing countries. Google released a lighter version of its latest android Oreo OS as well as lighter version of its apps for developing countries with poor network coverage and to also help save data.
Many smartphone manufacturers have promised to support the Google Go program by releasing affordable low end smartphones with support for the android Go OS. One of them is the Finnish company, Nokia.


HMD's Nokia is planning on launching a new low end smartphone as part of the Google Go program. The device which is expected to be made available in developing countries will be called the Nokia 1.

Base on reports, the upcoming Nokia 1 is expected to come with 1GB RAM and run on the lighter version of android Oreo. The device will also come with 8GB internal storage with Micro SD card slot and an HD display with 720p resolution.

As far as pricing and launching goes, the Nokia 1 is expected to launch by March of 2018 in several emerging markets including Russia and the reported launch price is around €80.
