HMD Confirms that the Nokia 2 will be Directly Upgraded to Android 8.1 Oreo

HMD made a few promises when it returned to the smartphone market with the Nokia brand. One of it was the fact that all of its current Android smartphones down to the 1GB RAM Nokia 2 will all receive at least 2 years of major OS upgrade as well as quick updates.

HMD has already started keeping to its promise as the Nokia 8 is already running on the Android 8.0 Oreo OS while the Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 are both running on a beta build of the android Oreo OS. This leaves just the Nokia 2 and Nokia 3.

HMD has just made another new announcement that instead of the android 8.0, the Nokia 2 will be directly updated to the latest Android 8.1 Oreo instead. One thing a lot of people might be curious about is if the low end smartphone will be able to handle it and run smoothly on android 8.1.

According to HMD's Juho Sarvikas, the Nokia 2 will be updated directly to Android 8.1 Oreo but with the android Go version and this will guarantee a smooth experience on the device. If you happen to be a Nokia 2 or Nokia 3 user then expect the update early next year.
