Google releases Android 10 Go Edition for entry-level Android smartphones

The Android Go is Google's trimmed down and light weight version of its Android OS targeted mainly at entry level smartphones that are not powerful enough to run the full version of Android. The Android Go also comes with other light weight apps like YouTube Go, Gallery Go and many others.
Google's Android Go Edition was initially launched in 2017 with the light weight version of Android 8.1 Oreo, it was then upgraded to Android 9 Pie last year. Google has now announced that the Android 10 version of the light weight Android Go has now being released.

The new Android 10 Go Edition packs a couple of new features as well as major improvements. According to Google, switching between Apps on this new version is now a lot more faster and memory-efficient.

Google has also upped the game on security by introducing a new form of data encryption which it calls Adiantum. The new Adiantum will give entry level Android smartphones the same level of security found on all high end smartphones without affecting the performance.
Some of the individual Android Go Apps have also been improved. The Google Go App for instance now supports AI-powered read-out-loud feature which makes it possible for users to listen to both long and short text on the Go.  The gallery Go app by Google photos now also makes it easier to find any photo on an Android Go powered smartphone. This is achieved by the on device machine learning which automatically organizes photos by the people and things you take photos of. It works both online and offline.

The Google Android Go Edition is currently running on over 1,600 Android models from over 500 manufacturers. This is in over 180 countries including India, South Africa, Nigeria, Brazil, and the United States. These devices, including the Samsung A2, Xiaomi Redmi Go, Tecno Spark 2, and Mobicel Astro, make up over 80 percent of entry-level Android phones activating today.
