HMD Starts Rolling out Android 8.1 Oreo Update to Nokia 7 Devices

When HMD introduced its first set of Android powered Nokia phones, one of the promises the company made was fast updates for all of its devices including the entry level smartphones and company has really been doing a good job in this aspect.

All Nokia Android smartphones under hmd that were launched with the Android 7 Nougat out of the box have all been updated to the Android 8.0 Oreo. Now, the Nokia 7 smartphone launched late 2017 with Android 7 Nougat out of the box is currently receiving the Android 8.1 update. This is the second major update the device is receiving in less than a year after it was released.

The new update which is about 700mb in size is packed with some new features such as dual SIM dual 4G VoLTE support, face recognition unlock, enhancements to power management, camera user interface and compatibility of 3.5mm audio jack. The new update is also expected to come with the latest May security Patch.

Note that before you proceed with the update, you are expected to have at least 1.4GB of free space. It also important to make sure your phone is charged and connected to a strong network before you proceed with the update.
