Facebook to end support for Messenger on Windows Phone 8 and 8.1 at the end of March

Facebook has just announced that it will end support for the Facebook app on windows 8 and 8.1 smartphones by the end of this month. Facebook is not actually the first to take this decision as Skype did something similar few months ago.
This shouldn't come as a surprise at all. Its no more news that windows phone is currently losing its hold on the mobile phone market. At the moment windows phone makes up less than 1% phone market share worldwide.

According to the message Facebook sent to the windows phone users,
"Thank you for choosing to use Messenger. We regret to inform you that since the end of March, the app version you’re using is no longer supported and you can not send and receive messages. To continue to send and receive messages from Facebook on your phone, update your Facebook app to the latest version".
Facebook app is still available  for windows phone 10, So if you happen to be a big fan of the windows phone and you are still stuck with either Windows 8 or 8.1, then I guess it's time for you to move on to the latest windows phone 10.
